What Did Tony Tell Us About Jesus?

"Jesus presents himself as the incarnation of God . . .God wanted to tell us how much he loved us, and in order to do it he had to become one of us."

"God, the One who was the Creator of the Universe, became one of us. He lived among us.  He sacrificed himself for us.  He taught us things.  Most of all, Jesus was the revelation, God, showing himself off to us in a way we could understand . . ."

"When he died on the cross, it was the ultimate act of love."

"Doing love is what God is all about."

"I wake in the morning and center down on Jesus.  I say his name over and over and over.  I focus on Jesus.  As Bill Gaither gets us to sing, 'There's Something About That Name.'  It drives back the dark forces .  It creates sacred space, what the Celtic Christians call 'the thin place.'  It takes me about 15 minutes to be inwardly still. It means that everything else is out of my mind except for Jesus.  I meditate on Jesus,  I wait for Jesus to flow into me, to invade me,  to become a living presence within me."

"When was the last time you waited for the Spirit of God to invade you? Sat still, laid still, for 15 minutes, just waiting?

"Jesus wants to invade you, possess you, and fill you so that you may be filled with joy and bring joy to other people."

With Jesus, living out love is more important than miracles.

"Which do you think would be more important to Jesus: to walk on water or to get a brokenhearted old lady to laugh again?"

Tony quoted Jesus words to the disciples, "Truly I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do, and in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father "(John 14: 12).   Do you remember how Tony told us that would happen?

  2. Yes. Sometimes "little things" we do are big things for others--and maybe in God's eyes, too!
